My Approach
COUNSELING
Perhaps you're down or anxious - maybe you're unsure about the future of a relationship, or just feel that you aren't living the life you were meant to lead. Whatever your needs may be, I am here to offer support. Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery, and in my sessions I promote behavioral transformation by encouraging a positive outlook and the adoption of new attitudes and reactions. I have the tools and professional experience to help you get back on track.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL COUNSELING
Cognitive behavioral therapy combines cognitive therapy with behavior therapy by identifying faulty or maladaptive patterns of thinking, emotional response, or behavior and replacing them with desirable patterns of thinking, emotional response, or behavior. I use this therapy to help clients learn to acknowledge negative thoughts and use coping skills to replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories (Shapiro, 1989a, 1989b). After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced. EMDR enables healing from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.
